They married in 1992
After graduating from California State University, Bakersfield, three years later, Kevin married Judy on August 29, 1992. On their 23rd wedding anniversary, Kevin paid a sweet and touching tribute to his wife on Facebook.
He wrote in the caption, “I have fallen in love many times… I am and will always be with you.” “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife Judy!”
They were high school sweethearts
Judy and Kevin met while they were students at Bakersfield High School. Judy and Kevin were in biology class together when Kevin was trying to woo Judy, but at the time his interests were elsewhere.

The family never left Bakersfield entirely, even owning their home when Kevin moved to Washington, D.C.
They have two children together
Soon after the wedding, the couple gave birth to their first child, son Connor McCarthy, in 1994. Two years later, Judy’s second child, Meghan, was born.
Six years later, Kevin says his son is married. The former speaker shared a video of Connor’s wedding on his Instagram. And said Connor married the “love of his life” in December 2020.

When Meghan was young, she contracted Lyme disease.
“We have our ups and downs, but he’s very strong, and we’re very lucky,” Judy said.
Both Connor and Meghan cheered on their father when he was elected speaker at the US Capitol building with Jodi in support.
She is from California
Judy was the youngest of four children in Frazier Park, California. As of 2014, his parents still live there.
